Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese philosophy. It is the study of living in harmony and prosperity with nature. Feng Shui means literally “wind water”. It is a form of geomancy, trying to understand the relationships between nature and ourselves so that we may live in harmony within our environment. It is based upon the simple thought that our lives are deeply affected by our physical and emotional environment.
One of our chief environments is our house, where we spend most of our time. Feng Shui has advice and solutions to offer, in order to let the “chi”, the energy, flow smoothly around the house. Curtains and windows are the most prominent features of our homes. Fabrics, color, material, window arrangement, yes, all these may affect your homes chi. Let’s see how to improve it.
Pull the curtains back during daytime to allow sunlight to lighten your house and give the area positive energy.
Keep your curtains closed at night. Don’t leave your windows exposed into night as it is considered to bring bad luck.
Blinds and curtain rings should be of natural material. The most beneficial is wood. Avoid plastic by all means!
Curtains should be large enough to cover the window and long enough to reach the floor.
Curtains should have curves to them. When drawn together there should be enough fabric hanging to form pleats and folds.
Make sure that curtains open and close easily.
Curtains that hang limply each side of a window are considered bad Feng Shui.
Keep your curtains and windows clean in order to allow the chi to come inside fresh and clean.
Match your curtains with the seasons to freshen up yours and your chis’ mood. Use heavy fabrics for winter and lighter fabrics for summer. Utilize warm colours for wintertime and light happy colours for spring and summertime. Choose shades of green at spring, shades of red, orange and pink at summer, white, grey and metallic colours for autumn and shades of blue in winter.
Windows are best when opening outwards. If a window opens inwards make sure it doesn’t face the West, which is the direction that signifies death or ending. In that case, block negative chi with an outward facing mirror or a plant with round leaves.
Octagonal and arched windows are considered good Feng Shui.
You can also utilize colours in your curtains to change colours in each room of your house, adjusting it correctly to specific energies each room should have. Have matching pairs in your bedroom and colours that invite love such as pink or green. For the diving room use red to keep guests energized and excited. For kitchens and playrooms orange and yellow is refreshing and revitalizing. Green is a calming colour ideal for living rooms. Purple signifies richness and transformation, which makes it ideal for spiritual rooms.
Whether you believe in Feng Shui or not, the best way to decorate your house and choose your curtain fabrics and colours is your personal taste and instinct. Add some positive Chi energy and you have the perfect house. Yours!

Feng Shui For The Office

Whether you are an employee or a business owner with his or her own office, you can use feng shui to make your office space more productive and harmonious.

Your first step is to stand at the doorway of your office or workspace and map out the areas according to the feng shui bagua. You can download a diagram of the bagua from our web site.

Your main focus will be your wealth and fame areas, although you should also pay attention to the other six areas and decorate them accordingly.

Here are some tips to keep the energy flowing in your office:

1. According to office feng shui guidelines, your desk should be placed at a diagonal to the doorway or directly facing it, rather than with your back to it.

2. If there’s more than one desk, place two on a diagonal facing towards the door and any others on a diagonal facing into the center of the room. They should not be placed in rows in a traditional classroom layout or back to back.

3. If the doorways of offices that face each other across a hallway are not exactly aligned, place a mirror on the front of each door.

4. If you face a partial wall or partition when entering an office, place a mirror on the partition.

5. Soften jutting walls with plants. If you don’t have a ‘green thumb’, artificial plants are just as effective as live ones.

6. Break up dull walls with mirrors or paintings.

The feng shui elements that are easiest to blend into an office decor are pictures and photographs. Look for pictures that represent the various aspects and display them in the appropriate areas of the room. Very obvious feng shui symbols may invite unwelcome questions from visitors or co-workers.

Feng Shui For A Home Office

Use office feng shui if you’re working from home to maintain a professional approach to your business.

1. Use a separate entrance to your office if at all possible.

2. Otherwise, choose a room near the front or back door of the house or apartment.

3. Separate your office from living areas to keep your business and personal lives separate.

4. If your office space is part of another room, divide it from the rest of the room with a screen or large plants.

5. Take a short walk before entering your office to work each day and another one at the end of your working day. This separates the business and personal aspects of your life.

6. Place your desk on the corner diagonally opposite to the doorway.

7. Don’t place your desk under a window, but let the light reflect on it from the side. Some people prefer to have their desks facing east.

8. Leave space between your furniture (bookshelves etc.) and the walls. Feng shui experts suggest leaving a 7-9 inch gap.

9. An important aspect of office feng shui is to keep your workspace tidy to allow a free flow of energy throughout the room.

10. Differentiate between clutter and storage. Stored items don’t have to be catalogued and labeled but they should be stacked neatly in a cupboard or in binders so as not to impede energy flow.

Obviously theres a lot more to feng shui than what weve discussed in this article but you now have the basics for applying feng shui to your office space.

When youve made whatever changes you choose to incorporate, take a slow walk through your office and notice your spontaneous reaction. You should experience a sense of ease and flow, as opposed to feelings of claustrophobia, stress or overwhelm caused by too much clutter.

Want Your Savings to Earn a Higher Rate of Return? Try Internet Banking.Jon GalantyDoesn’t it seem like the only impressive numbers we’ve seen this summer are the digits on the thermostat and the unaffordable prices of homes? Real estate has been excruciatingly hot for the past few years, but getting in the market now puts you in the high-risk category for a heat stroke if the market decides to cool off this year.

So if a real estate induced stroke doesn’t appeal to you and the stock market’s roller coaster ride gives you motion sickness, it’s very likely that you as a health-conscious investor are sitting on a stash of cash collecting an anemic rate of interest.

Don’t worry, you are in good company. Even investment legend Warren Buffet is having problems finding fruitful investments. Buffet admitted in Berkshire Hathaway’s annual letter to shareholders to having ended 2004 with $43 billion in cash equivalents and couldn’t promise much success in utilizing the money in 2005.

If Buffet doesn’t know what to do with his billions, you are probably thinking that you have no chance of finding a great place to put your billions either. Ok, your trillions. I didn’t mean to belittle your nest egg.

Where can you stick your cash while you wait for better investment times?

How about online? Yes, I know Internet stocks stole your money in 2000, but Internet banks are giving it back in 2005.

Unlike the Internet gold rush of the 1990’s where web businesses were run by high school students, many of today’s Internet banks are simply online divisions of safe and time tested brick-and-mortar banking institutions.

Take ING Direct for example. ING Direct is the online division of ING Group, a Dutch based financial institution which is among the top 15 largest in the world. ING Direct opened its Internet doors five years ago and currently has approximately $29 billion in deposits. That would make it the “YAHOO!” of online banks.

But another online bank may actually make you yodel, “yahooo” after you glance at their annual percentage yield. Internet bank Emigrant Direct offers 3.50% APY on its savings accounts. What does your big commercial bank give you? 0.50%? At that rate, you’re not earning enough to beat inflation. Maybe it’s time you joined the Internet age?

Emigrant Direct is the online division for New York’s Emigrant Savings Bank. Although a relative newcomer to the online banking scene, when it seems like interest rates are leaden with lead, Emigrant Direct is usually the first to raise them. At this point, brick-and-mortar banks would need to raise their rates quite a bit just to catch up with Emigrant.

So if you find yourself not enjoying the lazy interest rates of summer, you may want to log on to the net and see how an Internet bank account may boost your return this year. The interest rate you get may just burn as hot as the heat wave hitting most of America.

The time value of moneycollin brownIt is very important for one to understand the time value of money. Especially we should let our next generation know
about it. As the sea wave keeps on coming without any hesitation, life also flows on. It is important to make a child understand about the journey of time along with the
changing value of life.

Do you see people using the old coins nowadays? I am sure you do not. But you remember them as your grandmas must have kept a few. This paisa is to be kept in with you only as they are not in use. Similarly, today we can buy things with a 10-rupee
note, right? If I give you a ten-rupee note, you can immediately go to the next shop and buy a chocolate for you.
Do you think even after a couple of years you will get the same chocolate with 10 rupee? I do not think so and I am sure
you will agree with me, too.

Let us think about your latest toy, which your father bought you last week. The latest remote controlled car cost him 200$.
My dear, you wont believe that I bought this car just a year back for 120$ only!! Now, you might think that, as there are
the changes in the newest model, so the company has increased their price. Yes, you are right to some extent but there are
other reasons too. You know that the price of everything is increasing day by day. So to retreat the market value one has
to increase the price. The cost this company used to spend after the toy has been changed. Now, as the new technology has
come within a year, they also had to improve the quality of their toy. If they did not improve it, you would not ask me
for this toy, right? Tell me if it would not be as sophisticated as it is and better than your previous ones, then would you like to buy this? No dear, you would not, nobody does. It is the market where everyone wants something better and thus, the price is getting higher accordingly.

In your childhood when you used to collect donations for the poor kids, how much people used to contribute? I think people used to give you Rs. 5 minimum. Now, if you ask for that, you will not get less than Rs. 10 from a person. It is because earlier value of Rs. 5 is almost equal to value of Rs. 10 these days. You hardly get anything with Rs. 5 now, while you will get a chocolate, a packet of potato chips or may be a small toy at Rs. 10. Even you can get a pen at Rs. 10. So, are you with me? Do you understand the difference now?

One more example will be suitable for you to understand the matter. What is the price of the cricket bat you want to buy for yourself? Arent you saving your pocket money to buy that this year? Now, now, you are caught! I knew it, do not worry, everyone has his secret desires and I also had this once. Let me share a story with you. When I was a kid like you, one day I went to the market with my mother. There I
liked a talking doll and it was saying mummy mummy and pappa pappa. It was so adorable that I wanted to buy. However, my mother did not have that money to buy me then so she rather bought me something else. Well, I came back, but the dream of having the doll with me stayed. That year I did not buy anything in the Pujas and saved the money. Then again in the festive season I did not buy a new dress and saved the money instead. After that I told my mother to
buy me the doll with that saved money. Wow!! It was a lovely experience when I got to get that doll from my saved money. That was a superb feeling indeed. I have told you this small story because I know some of you must be saving your pocket money for your desired thing. If it is a Cricket bat then
I am sure you need not save as much as I had to. Now if you dont buy 1 dress in a Festival or just save 4/5 months
pocket money you will be able to buy it. this is because what I used to get as pocket money was lesser than you. The
reason is, the value has been changed. If I give you the same amount, which I used to get as a kid, it wont be
suitable for you. Thus, the change takes place in our lives too.

I think it is now clear to you how the value of money changes with time. Now, one most important thing. You should realize
the value of money as well. Do not ever waste money unnecessarily. It is a curse to you if you do so. The God will be angry with you and you will be in trouble. Save money as this plays a major role in your life. If you understand the value of saving and not spending it without necessity then you
will surely have a bright future.

However, the value of money changes with time yet the concept of money never changes. It never looses its importance in our life. Ask your grandma about their life. You will be amazed and astonished with the description. Sometime you might feel
that she is just telling stories!! Well, it is not so. After a long when you will become a grandma and your kids will ask you this, they will be equally shocked to know that you used to get a chocolate at Rs. 10!

As a growing kid, you should realize this. It is very important to understand the basics of life. One of the major things is this, to understand the time value of money. I am sure you have understood this well and do not have any doubts in mind. There
are certain things, which cannot be told, you have to realize them from your heart. Other things I have tried to tell you so
far.

Feng Shui Colors And What They Represent

Feng shui colors knowledge can allow you to choose the right colors to create harmony in any living or working space as well as it can be used with anything that involves choosing colors. According to feng shui colors specifications, colors should not be used randomly but according to what they represent.

+##+

+##+

Each one of the five elements, water, wood, fire, earth and metal are represented by different colors and that allow us to create feng shui colors based harmony. We will detail the colors each one of the elements represent through the next lines in order to help you choosing the right colors for your home or office decoration as well as the look for harmony within anything involving the use of colors.

+##+

+##+

The element water, according to feng shui colors representation chart, is represented by the colors blue and black and all their shades. This means that if, for example, you need to add more of the water element in a room, you could do so by adding these colors to it.

+##+

+##+

Next, and according to feng shui colors spectrum, wood is represented by all shades of green. Therefore, by painting a room green or adding green objects you would be including more wood in it. The next element, fire, is represented by red, pink and maroon and adding any of these colors within a space would be as adding that element.

+##+

+##+

The last two elements symbolized by feng shui colors are earth and metal. The feng shui element earth is represented by the color orange, yellow, and brown. And the element metal is represented by color white, silver, gray and gold. Using any of the colors within these last two groups would add more of the element which they represent.

+##+

+##+

A house position also determines the color which we should ideally use in its exterior. A house facing south should be white, gray or blue, facing SW should be in red or earth shades, facing west should be in blue or green or if it is facing north it should have green shades or red. A house facing NE should be painted in earth shades or red, and if it is either facing east or SE it should be in metal or earth shades.

Feng Shui is a process that affects your internal landscape just as much as it affects your physical environment. In order for your spirit to be nourished by the enhancements you make to your home, you must start the entire process by looking inward, and this is an important Feng Shui tip that most Feng Shui consultants like me would offer to all Feng Shui beginners. This in fact is the essence of spiritual Feng Shui which looks at the Feng Shui at a higher level than the other types of Feng Shui which mostly aim at improving at a niche level; be it your office, home or bedroom.

+##+

The Spiritual Feng Shui sees the whole concept of Feng Shui at the universal level, the level to which your soul belongs and relates. If you practice spiritual Feng Shui you can never think of improving your life at the expanse of harming your neighbor or your environment. The Feng Shui tips that are offered in the article not only aim to highlight the important points one has to remember before practicing it; it also introduces the Feng Shui beginners to the new horizons that the spiritual Feng Shui can open up for them.

+##+

Though the spiritual Feng Shui communicates to your environment, your home, your office through the bodily objects, it heals your soul — to know how it works it is important for you to remember the following Feng Shui tips. All these free Feng Shui tips have valuable advice contained in them so try to imbibe them before you start your practice.

+##+

There is nothing religious about the Spiritual Feng Shui. It talks about purifying your soul, not only the empty or occupied spaces in your house. The purified soul has the radiations that are reflected from you to have strong positive energies; in Feng Shui practice, these positive energies referred to as Chi, which is the universal energy and the guiding principle.

+##+

As one would never build a new home on a rotting foundation; likewise, it is essential to clear away the debris of negativity before you create your new Feng Shui space. Only then can your spirits soar with true energy and vitality.

+##+

As you come to recognize the importance of cleansing your old attitude and beginning anew, what ever Feng Shui enhancements that you use for a Feng Shui home design seem to be working for you.

+##+

Here are some free Feng Shui tips for everyone: Look deep into yourself and don’t be afraid to do so! That is the only way to develop and change in a beneficial way. Be honest with yourself – you deserve truth and awareness. Open your palms, close your eyes and reach your arms up and out, as though you are waiting to be picked up or embraced. (This is necessary for unifying your soul with the universe). Imagine the energy radiating from your heart, your lungs, your palms and that the energy is touching everything in its path. Beam the energy away from you, sending it into the farthest corners of the universe. Repeat this mantra: “I am open to positive change in any form it takes.”

+##+

Before you start feng shui decorating with various Feng Shui elements, my sincere Feng Shui advice to all the Feng Shui beginners is to strictly follow the spiritual Feng Shui tips.

+##+

May be as your Feng Shui study goes deeper and deeper you would not mind spending some money for buying e books on Feng Shui, but the absolutely free Feng Shui tips that you just now have are the like the foundation stones for the spiritual Feng Shui practice. Remember that these free Feng Shui tips are going to help you a great deal in your long Feng Shui journey.

+##+

Once you are positive about accepting changes in your life the Feng Shui is there to help you in what ever you do; remember that Feng Shui is about focusing intentions, rather than just coasting on auto-pilot. Feng Shui is about getting you back into the driver’s seat of your life, it is about accepting responsibility for yourself and your actions not only in this materialist world but also the metaphysical or spiritual world.

+##+

Nurturing yourself with Feng Shui practice and making use of the philosophy of Feng Shui in the home design will help you regain your own sense of destiny and purpose within the universe. Before you start any Feng Shui practice, whether it is about understanding Feng Shui Bagua or knowing Feng Shui Elements remember that Feng Shui is a spiritual discipline. It is just not about doing furniture placement using Feng Shui interior design but knowing yourself and your universe better so can get the positive energies from the universe and its objects. We are very confused on the placement of a three legged frog as advice by many experts in the net. Kindly advice on the correct placement (location) of this auspicious item, the preferred dates (initial starting time) and timing of placement of this item (from what time to put up and what time to keep)

Your kind advice is appreciated. Thank You.

Answer: Howdy Michael,

These ugly little money toads are based upon a simple folk lore story about a greedy Buddhist monk who lost his money sack when he was taking a dump over an open pit toilet and then leapt in after it and drowned. When the full moon rose into the evening sky that night, he transformed into the ugly toad and climbed on out with his money sack intact!!!! This is in fact a moralistic fable and is not based upon Feng Shui principles.

Personally, I see it as a symbol of warning against getting caught up in the illu$ion of money, and greed. NOT as a prosperity symbol !!!!

The real problem with this sort of thing is that there will always be those out there that are quite happy in the knowledge that they are taking advantage of the unaware, through the action of selling Religious, Spiritual, Folklore and Superstitious type items as Feng Shui objects!

There are also no consistent answers for placement of such items. For example, in the Philippines, depending upon which island you are on, you will be given conflicting advice to its placement. On one island they believe you should face it out of the home, and on a neighbouring isle they tell you the exact opposite. Who is correct, and why does it work for some people (these sorts of items don’t work for all people), regardless of which island their on, and which way the thing faces, when they are using different applications of the same object?

The power of belief is an amazingly powerful thing my friend! ;-)
Unfortunately there are a lot of these sort of items available, including Mirrors, Gourds, Chinese Gods, Lucky Turtle Stacks, Gold Ingots, etc… and all are being sold as Feng Shui accessories, which they are not. Feng Shui in itself has no items to sell. It is based upon time, location, surroundings, and the individuals within the place concerned, cures are based upon the 5 transformations, yin & yang, and numerous Water placement principles. Treating your place alchemically, or energetically.

If you must use one of these type of accessories, place it in the location where your 8 wealth / water star is according to Xuan Kong Feng Shui method (Flying Stars) in your personal Sheng Chi direction (Ming Gua).

Alternatively, speak to the elders in your family and seek out your ancestral superstitions!
